A demo for fantasy survival game Enshrouded has hit for this October’s Steam Next Fest, and the action-RPG survival adventure is looking pretty good for fans of having cool fights, surviving the wilds, and building sick castles.

Announced earlier this year, Enshrouded quickly caught our attention for the developers’ pitch concept. They wanted to make a co-op game that was “Valheim meets Zelda” in a larger RPG framework, one where you’d build an entire town with NPCs inhabiting it rather than just an empty outpost for you and your friends.

We didn’t just like the voxel-y building mechanics that enable you to pretty much just smoosh stuff together into a cool house, though those look really sweet, we also liked the look of its exploration. Early trailers showed off leathery gliding suits used to soar above and through the fog of the world, as well as grappling hooks to climb trees and ancient ruins.

Since shortly after its western release in February of 2022, Korean MMO Lost Ark has had a problem with gold-farming bots. A month after release Amazon Games banned “over a million” accounts for using bots, and committed to regularly banning more. It also made changes to the in-game economy as part of its plan to deal with one of Lost Ark’s top issues.

Almost a year later, it’s still an issue. January’s ban wave was a significant one, with Amazon Games posting on the official forum that, “many players have noticed a drop off in the number of concurrent users displayed in Lost Ark’s Steam stats. This change is the direct result of a roll out of a significant number of bot account bans, which utilized new and highly-effective tactics to target and remove bots from the game.” 

Those “new and highly-effective tactics” have apparently also caught up a large number of players who simply hadn’t logged in for a while, resulting in a game ban that appears on their Steam prof…

In January 2021, Magic: The Gathering had one of those moments that went mainstream. The sale of a single Black Lotus card, an extreme rarity from the game’s first-ever set of cards, reached a final amount of $511,100 in an eBay auction. Previous examples of the Alpha Black Lotus (the first series of MTG cards is called the Alpha series) had gone for as much as $250K, but this more than doubled the record and the general reaction was of astonishment. Not that Magic: The Gathering cards can be valuable, that’s long-established, but that a single card could ever be worth half-a-million dollars plus change.

That particular trade was given legitimacy by the organiser, trading card investment firm and exchange PWCC, which regularly handles sales across various CCGs for high-value cards.
